The Anchor

'Two men look out through the same bars; One sees the mud and one the stars' (Frederick Langridge, 1896)

How do you see the world? People all around me comment on how they hate the town we live in. They detail all the reasons why. Something rises up in me "I need to speak life." I need to see all the good in this community rather than focus on the negative. No matter how dark things may seem if we place our hope in the Lord we will come out victorious (we will see the stars.)

" This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek."Hebrews 6:19 -20

The curtain in the bible was the division /separation that only allowed certain people into the presence of the Lord. This verse talks about how that all changed because Jesus went before us.

He died so that the division would be gone so that we can have a close relationship with Him. Jesus is our hope. If we have a strong relationship with Him even though waves and storms may come, if we are firmly anchored in Him we won't be moved.

It is important to know where our hope lies.

Many people place their hope in the wrong things and they get let down.

They hope that they will win the lottery.

They hope that having a better job will make their spouse love them more.

We are not meant to put our hope in earthly things.

Our hope needs to be in our Heavenly Father.

He sacrificed His Own Son so He can have a relationship with us.

No matter how messed up we are He still wants us because He loves us.

Where does your hope come from?
